We combine traditional taxidermy methods with the latest technology to produce the most lifelike trophies imaginable. We are also hunting and fishing consultants and can assist you in planning a trip anywhere in the world - from Alaska to Zimbabwe.
Whether you catch and release your fish or eat it, you can still enjoy the lasting memory of your catch by having a fish mount made from one of our hundreds of existing fish molds. With measurements and photos of your fish, we can furnish you with a beautiful fish mount. By using one of our molds, you eliminate the casting process and save money. To order a fish replica, measure the overall length of your fish from tip to tip. Also measure the girth or half girth at the biggest part of the belly. If a scale is available, weigh your fish and, if possible, take close-up photos of your fish. Your taxidermy fish mount will last a lifetime.
In addition to big game taxidermy and fish mounts, we are experts in bird mounting. Lyons and O’Haver was chosen to do bird mounts for many of California’s state parks, including Anza Borrego, Torrey Pines, Cuyamaca Rancho, Mission Trails, etc. We have also done work for various colleges, and museums. Lyons and O’Haver has done bird mounts for the San Diego Natural History Museum, Sea World and the United States Navy. If your bird mounts are in need of cleaning or repair, we are able to provide the services of bird mount cleaning, bird mount repair, and bird mount restoration.
The creation of an outstanding big game trophy requires careful handling from the beginning. Your freshly killed trophy should be kept out of the sun and it should be skinned immediately. The skin should then be frozen or salt dried. Let us know if you need instructions on how to skin an animal, especially if you need help with the more detailed areas such as the ears, nose, lips and eyes.

Let us know if you need instructions on how to skin an animal, especially if you need help with the more detailed areas such as the ears, nose, lips and eyes. After the skin is dried, it is professionally tanned to a high quality soft leather. We relax the skin, stretch it and then measure it to determine how big to make the mannequin. The mannequins or forms are made from high density polyurethane foam and are individually sculpted to fit the skin. We also alter the mannequin to create the pose that you request.
